I currently teach 10th Grade US History and Government II, at the New Brighton Area High School. I was the district's Technology Integrator until the state budget cuts eliminated the position. I was the Regional Director of PAECT's Southwest Region, until becoming the Vice-President of PAECT. PAECT, the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology, is the pre-eminent voice for appropriate use of educational technology in the classroom. I was also one of the Troop Leaders of my daughter's Girl Scout Troop.
My educational philosophy is for students to be able to learn from anywhere they are in the world. That is why I have had an online classroom, even before they were fashionable. Most of the resources used in class are free and available to use on any device.
As a strong advocate for students publishing their work, most assignments will be posted on the class wiki. This is a great way for students to show off the skills they are learning while building an appropriate and positive digital footprint.
These are the skills they will need moving into the future; in the workforce, in post secondary education, and life in general of the future.
